The Child Development Center (CDC) at Knoxville First United Methodist Church seeks an Assistant Director for its fulltime and year-round child care/preschool program. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director and staff to enhance and guide the weekday program which provides high quality childcare and a developmentally appropriate education to children (aged 6 weeks to kindergarten) while promoting a safe, loving and Christian environment. The goal of the CDC is to plan and execute educational activities that will enable each child to grow intellectually, spiritually, physically, socially and emotionally.

Duties include:

 Collaborating with the Director in supporting staff, managing facilities, invoicing and collecting tuition/fees
 Assisting the Director in maintaining state licensing requirements, student records, etc… as required by the Department of Human Services and the Tennessee Star Rating Program.
 Working with Director and church finance officials to operate within the established budget and review financial reports
 Developing, organizing and managing the summer program (running approximately June – mid August)
 Acting as emergency substitute teacher in classrooms when necessary
 Assisting in recruitment, interviewing and hiring of new staff members

Skills needed:

 Organization/Planning – demonstrated ability to schedule staff and student placement, particularly during before and after school hours and during the summer program
 Collaboration/Vision – able to work closely with the Director and staff to enhance/implement appropriate curriculum and communicate program merits to community at large
 Marketing/Publicity – help to create and execute a manageable marketing and publicity campaign to promote the CDC, as well as staff and student openings
 Technical and computer skills – proficient in Microsoft Office tools or equivalent and multiple social media platforms

Requirements:

 Committed Christian, whose personal life reflects Christian leadership qualities
 B.S. or B.A. with experience in child care and administration or related field – consideration will be given to equivalent experience
 Must meet all training, CPR, and licensing requirements as defined by the Department of Human Services
 Able to work flexible work hours (35 hours per week) between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm
